San Diego Wedding Photographer | Mary + Jason

Mary and Jason are friends of mine from church who also happen to be a duo of very talented wedding filmmakers. So when they asked me to shoot their wedding, not only did I feel incredibly honored; I also felt immense pressure to deliver artistic, graphically strong images that would wow them while staying true to the kind of genuine, emotional images that come from my heart. When I arrived on scene, I decided to just focus on what was unfolding in front of me and serve Mary and Jason by working my tail off and simply make images that reflect who they are. Within minutes of having my camera to my face, watching and listening to what was going on around me, it was obvious that the day would be full of excitement and emotion, anticipation and fulfillment, surprise and gratitude.

It was a true honor for me to be witness to an event so overflowing with love and generosity. And those were the big themes of the day. Not only were Mary and Jason super demonstrative in their love for each other, but they oozed thankfulness to all their friends and family for pulling together and surprising them with so much. Mary’s hair stylist flew in from the bay area; a friend stayed up all night making cupcakes and an extra cake; table arrangements were shipped in from out of town; lights and decor were an unexpected gift. And the toasts said it all. While the bride and groom shared how thankful they were for how much help they had, it was their friends who told the story of how lucky they were to have Mary and Jason in their lives, what kind and thoughtful people they are, and how this match was a perfect one.

Below are some of my favorite snippets of the day. And since I’m feeling extra generous, there’s a bonus link at the end. 😉 Big thanks to the incomparable Katrina Wallace for flying out from AZ to shoot with me and doing an amazing job!
